​The 54th annual Glenn S. Skinner Memorial Award was presented to Dr. Thabiso Kunene at his dissertation defense on May 3, 2021. This award is presented for distinction in scholarship, research, teaching and service. Dr. Kunene completed his dissertation work in the research group of Professor Joel Rosenthal where he studied how interfacial dynamics can be leveraged at electrically polarized interfaces to enable conversion of carbon dioxide to value-added chemicals. Thabiso will begin work as a postdoctoral researcher in the Materials Chemistry division of Argonne National Lab in June. This award is in honor of Dr. Skinner who was a very active member of the Chemistry faculty from 1928 to 1958.
