aSCEN 491​​ Teaching Science in the Secondary School is taken the semester prior to student teaching. All teacher education candidates must meet established criteria for admission into upper-division professional education study. These criteria include: minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5; minimum grade point average of 2.75 in chemistry; successful completion (grade of C- or better) of prerequisite courses and field experiences. Students must attain a passing score on the Praxis Subject assessment according to state of Delaware guidelines before enrolling in EDUC 400.
bA minimum grade of C is required in this course to qualify for student teaching.
cStudent teaching is offered only in the spring semester. The state of Delaware requires that a student attain a 3.0 GPA on their last two years of coursework to qualify for EDUC 400. EDUC 400 Student Teaching fulfills the Discovery Learning requirement.
